Vibration Isolation Check

Vibration Isolation Check: Stress-Test Your Anti-Vibration Mounting

Will your planned mounting still work under unfavourable conditions? In two minutes, the check tests your data for overload, resonance, acoustic bridges and missing information – with a traffic-light rating, reasons and the questions that still need answering for a reliable design.

Free, no registration, no app. All calculations run in your browser.

More than a calculator: what the check does differently

  • The whole operating range, not a single point: resonances are checked across the entire speed range – including twice the rotational frequency for reciprocating machines, the inverter minimum speed and run-up.
  • Typical mistakes in practice: under-loading, rigid pipe connections, direct bolting, flexible floors and unsuitable materials for oil, moisture or ozone are detected. More in our guide Why an anti-vibration mat is not working.
  • Information gaps made visible: missing or estimated data is flagged and output as specific questions – so your enquiry is answered faster and more precisely.
  • Measure frequency (beta): use your smartphone’s accelerometer or microphone to determine the dominant frequency directly at the machine – no app needed.

We explain the calculation basics on the vibration isolation calculator page, technical terms in the glossary and the relevant standards under Standards & guidelines. Load classes and materials can be found under Materials & technical data.

Isolation Check FAQ

What does the Isolation Check test?

The check assesses your data on load, speed, installation site, connections and environment against more than 20 physically based test rules – including bearing pressure and load class, resonance across the whole speed range, run-up, frequency inverters, acoustic bridges and media resistance. Each rule gets a traffic-light rating with reasons.

Does the check replace a design?

No. The check is an indicative plausibility check based on a simplified single-mass model. It highlights risks and missing information. The binding design is project-specific and uses the characteristic curves of the specific product type.

Is my data stored?

No. The calculation and the optional smartphone measurement run entirely in your browser. Data is only transmitted if you deliberately transfer the result to the enquiry form and submit it.

How accurate is the smartphone measurement?

It provides an indicative frequency analysis, not a calibrated vibration measurement. Depending on the device and browser, the accelerometer is usually only suitable for low frequencies up to approx. 15–25 Hz. The microphone detects tonal hum such as the 100 Hz of a transformer, but measures airborne noise, not structure-borne noise.

Why does the check show amber points even though everything looks fine?

Amber usually means that a piece of information is missing or was estimated – for example the natural frequency of the mounting or the centre of gravity position. With this information, the design can be refined. The open questions are listed at the end of the result.

Have your project reviewed by an engineer

With “Request a technical review”, all your data, warnings and open questions are automatically transferred to this form. Add your contact details and feel free to upload a photo of the installation or a drawing – we will get back to you with a design.
