Why transformers should be decoupled
Magnetostriction in the core makes transformers hum at twice the mains frequency (100 Hz on 50 Hz grids) and at its harmonics. These vibrations travel through the foundation into floors, walls and adjacent rooms – causing complaints and stressing the structure.

What information do you need?
The transformer’s weight, the number and size of the support points, the mains frequency, the installation site (indoor or outdoor) and whether there is any contact with oil.
Can existing transformers be retrofitted?
In many cases yes – the transformer is lifted briefly and the pads or strips are placed under the support points.
